Yes, I know.
I've been very slack at keeping this going, but the past few months have brought about some large changes so I have a valid excuse! Since the last post, we've had 4 more mixes added to the site, each one them full of bangers and classics alike. #008 saw Mr Brainz deliver the goods, bringing his usual blend of UKG to he party. You can listen/download the mix below We then had D Cutz bring us an hour of the 4x4 sound for #009 Mr D gave us a blinding mix for #010 And, most recently, Dan T gave us a mix of both old a new UKG for #011 With regards to music releases, there has been FAR too many to list. However, there is one album that just has to be mentioned - the much anticipated UK Funky album from Mind Of A Dragon. I can't speak highly enough about this album, and I don't think I write well enough to do it justice with a proper review. Just listen to it, trust me.

It's nearly the weekend, and today sees a bumper number of new UKG releases available to buy. But, first things first - we have a new mix out!
The second part of our collaboration with Guildford-based event runners UKGU sees E1D step up to the decks with a mix of fresh UKG. Definitely something to get your weekend started right! You can find the download link, tracklist and stream by clicking the image below The first of the new releases to highlight has to be the album from FooR. This sees them working with a host of producers and MCs to bring us a contender for best UKG release of the year. You can preview the tracks, as well as buy them, using the player below London-based label RDWRK brings us a new release from Arridim, but it's the remix from El-B (under his Ghost alias) that has us interested. Featuring as the opening track on E1D's new mix, this is a dark 2-step banger. And it's definitely worth buying! It's track 3 in the player below And Ghost brings us another remix, this time via Pretty Weird for his remix of Chimpo 'DidDieDoDat?' Next, we have a new release from the ever-popular DJ Q. This time, it's a collaboration with Jack Junior (not the usual Royal-T and Flava D!) and features two tracks from the duo as well as two more of them remixing each others tracks. It's a novel way to release music, and other producers should do the same in our opinion. You can preview/buy the tracks using the player below We mentioned this release in a previous post, but as it's now out to purchase we have to highlight it again. TuffCulture releases a club banger, with vocals from Sophia Lee, entitled 'Anyone Else' on Four40 Records. It's a weapon, DJs need to get it Another track to feature on our new mix comes from Slime Recordings' sister-label Downplay, and comes from Kazumi Anzai. Entitled 'Beehive', it features a track of the same name along with another - Cinnamon - as well as a remix of Beehive from Context. Check it out below Last, but by no means least, are the final two 'preview' tracks taken from the upcoming 'The World of Garage & Bass' compilation from Zeus Sound. If you pre-ordered this on iTunes you will already have the other 4 tracks to go with these two, but if you prefer your track format lossless (which , in our opinion, you should if you're a DJ) then you can buy them from the links below now (although you'll also need to pay again some the 2nd March) And that's it for today! Feel free to comment, and enjoy your weekend! I'll be heading down to Guildford for the UKGU night at Thirty3Hz tomorrow (Saturday) to catch Rossi B & Luca, Soulcta and the UKGU residents so if you're about, come say hi! Safe E1D

There has been a lot of great music announced this month, with some already available to buy and more coming in the next few weeks. Lets take a look...
Mind Of A Dragon (MOAD) has been a tear of late, and if you know Grant's work rate you know that music will come thick and fast. Already this month we have had an EP of unreleased music drop on his BandCamp page (and another coming beginning of March) but we have also had another single released on Juno/iTunes He also has music featuring on the upcoming compilation with FooR as well as what I believe could be the UKG release of the year - Zeus Sound's 'The World of Garage & Bass'. This compilation has been curated by Mike Delinquent and also features music from the likes of Blakk Habit, Smokey Bubblin' B, TuffCulture, Leda Stray and Doctor Nick. It's a SERIOUS release, and drops on the 2nd March. TuffCulture also has a new release upcoming with Four40 Records, featuring the vocals of Sophia Lee. Expect his usual melodic breaks to drop into heavy basslines Up next we have the second release from Slime Recordings sister-label Downplay, and it comes from Zazumi Anzai. This release includes original tracks - Beehive and Cinnamon - as well a remix from Context. This drops on the 23rd February, alongside the release from TuffCulture and the FooR compilation. I hadn't planned on adding a blog to this site, but due to the time involved with getting mixes in from DJs that have offered to do one I need to keep content going!
I'll be highlighting tracks that have been/will be released as well as any links to preview said music (and obviously where to buy - gotta support the artists). This may all descend into madness, but I've gotta give it a go haven't I? So, first post should be to tell you all the latest mix submission that we released last Friday was from Control-S. And it's fire. You can check it out here: |
